The new era of crypto investing may be less about chasing the next big opportunity and more about having a deliberate, systematic approach for the crypto you already invest in.
For too long, individual investors have been asked to navigate a 24/7 market with little more than a chart, a headline, and a plethora of strong online opinions.
Part of what has given institutions an edge in crypto markets is their ability to use systems and tools designed to apply predefined rules based on market signals, follow trends and respond when market conditions change. Those kinds of tools have largely been out of reach for everyday crypto investors, leaving them to make difficult decisions on their own.
That is why iTrustCapital developed Q, a suite of AI-formulated quantitative trading strategies available through the iTrustCapital platform.
What Is Q?
Q was developed for clients who want a rules-based way to gain crypto exposure without having to watch the market all day. It offers a suite of opt-in quantitative strategies that systematically buy and sell selected cryptocurrencies using predefined algorithmic rules and market signals.
Each strategy runs on its own rule set and monitors market signals - including trend, volatility, relative strength, moving averages, and cycle indicators - to make buy and sell decisions. The strategies operate within a self-directed iTrustCapital account, where clients decide whether to opt in and select the strategy they want to use.
How Does Q Work?
Q is built directly into the iTrustCapital account experience, so clients do not need to connect an outside bot, move assets to another platform, or understand the technical work happening behind the trading strategies.
Once a client has a self-directed iTrustCapital account, they can activate Q, explore the available quantitative strategies, and select the one they want to use. There is no additional software to set up and no technical expertise required to start. If the client wants to opt out of using Q, they can do so on a daily basis with no exit fees.
That simplicity is intentional. Q was designed to give clients access to a rules-based way of investing in crypto without making them design algorithms or monitor crypto markets on a full-time basis.
Built for the Decisions Crypto Investors Face
Crypto is easy to access. The harder part is deciding what to do when the market changes.
Q gives clients a way to use systematic crypto strategies without needing to monitor the market full-time.
- A process for volatile markets: Q follows the selected strategy’s predefined rules when market conditions change, rather than requiring a client to manually react in the moment.
- Less dependence on emotion: Headlines, social media, influencers, and sudden price swings can make any trading decision feel urgent. Q follows the rules of the selected strategy, not the mood of the market.
- A simpler way to access crypto strategies: Clients can access algorithmic crypto strategies directly in their self-directed account, without connecting an outside bot or learning a separate platform.
- Client choice of strategy: Clients choose whether to select and activate the Q strategy they want to use, and keep ownership of their assets inside their iTrustCapital account.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Q?
Q offers a suite of opt-in quantitative strategies that systematically buy and sell selected cryptocurrencies using predefined algorithmic rules.
Is Q a managed account?
No, Q is not a managed account. Q is a technology feature available within a self-directed iTrustCapital account. Clients decide whether to activate and choose the Q strategy they want to use. No iTrustCapital entity selects a strategy or makes any individualized discretionary investment decisions on a client’s behalf. Once a client enrolls, Q may execute transactions automatically according to the selected strategy’s predefined rules.
How does Q determine when to buy or sell?
Each Q strategy runs on its own predefined rule set and monitors market signals — including trend, volatility, relative strength, moving averages, and cycle indicators — to generate buy and sell activity. Clients choose whether to opt in and which strategy to activate. Clients can opt out and deactivate a strategy or remove funds from it at any time.
Does a person decide when Q takes action?
No. Once a client activates a strategy, Q follows that strategy’s predefined algorithmic rules when its conditions are met. By enrolling in a strategy, Q enables clients to execute their trades automatically based on market conditions and specific movements, instead of having to manually make an in-the-moment decision based on a headline, social post, or sudden price move.
How is AI used in Q?
AI supports the research and development process behind Q’s strategies, including exploring and stress-testing potential strategy designs. Once a strategy is live, it follows its predefined rules; it does not independently generate new trading instructions, improvise, retrain itself in real time or change its approach based on the latest news cycle.
Do my assets leave my iTrustCapital account?
No. Assets remain in the client’s iTrustCapital account while the client uses Q.
Can I use more than one Q strategy?
Yes. Clients can use multiple Q strategies. Each strategy has its own rules and may respond differently to the same market conditions.
How often does Q buy or sell?
It depends on the selected strategy and market conditions. Some strategies may take action only a few times a year, while others may respond more often as market conditions change. No Q strategy guarantees any minimum frequency of buying or selling.
Can I stop using a Q strategy?
Yes. Clients can opt out of a strategy on a daily basis with no exit fees.
Why are the multiple strategies named “Quantum”?
Quantum is our in-house proprietary trading engine that has several triggers and sliders that have been adjusted to fit different investor appetites. Depending on which Quantum strategy you choose will determine how aggressive or conservative you enter into which positions. However, at the core, the quantum strategies are using the same trading logic.
Will Q always outperform buy-and-hold?
No strategy can guarantee results. Q is designed to follow predefined rules across changing market environments, and each strategy is developed with long-term investment horizons in mind. They may outperform or underperform buy-and-hold strategies over any particular period, and clients may lose money.
